“Jan 17, 2025: As you see it now there are a combined 67 hours of work on this piece. The final stages include minute details that bring to life those awe inspiring moments. As the artist I’ll be honest in saying these are the details that are painful— I am SO unbearably particular about getting it right. As the saying goes, I am my worst critic, and I don’t allow reprieve until I’m positive that even I am shocked by how good it really is. Many hours to come but the end is within reach. These are the pieces that are so hard to let go, the ones you mold so carefully that it feels as though you’re giving a piece of yourself. To the lovely home she finds, I hope you cherish her as much as I have cherished making her. It feels as if I just got her, and I am already mourning the loss.”
“March 14, 2025: I’m in awe, I was totally and entirely naive to the gravity of this painting when I started it. That I would eventually have 293 hours behind it. That I would amass so much support. It is a unique kind of gratitude when people find value in something that strikes you so deeply and entirely. I have lived and loved this painting to the ends of my limits and the result is something I am so proud to call my own. I had no idea how many hours were ahead of me when I started or how much I would bleed into this piece. I look at this and it sits with me how profoundly validating and fulfilling it is to feel so delusionally positive that it is an uncompromising display of my expertise. To partner with Thomas Editions, such an expert in the field, to make a print that is deserving of the affection I feel is exactly how I pictured sharing it.
